Tagalog Class Descriptions:

Tagalog 1 – Basic Tagalog

Have you ever sat down next to relatives or friends and simply could not comprehend what was being said to you in Tagalog? Well, this is where to start… this course is designed for those that simply know nothing about the Filipino language or at least have a very limited Tagalog vocabulary. This 10-week course is dedicated for those who are interested in learning the essential basics and building a fundamental foundation towards learning Tagalog. Bring a Tagalog/English Dictionary. Class Syllabus Provided.

Tagalog 2 – Intermediate Tagalog

Can you piece together a simple coherent sentence in Tagalog but want to expand on your comprehension? If so, this course is for you. It builds on Tagalog 1 with basic conversational skills and phrases to help you comprehend and speak the language. This class will be taught entirely in Tagalog. Bring a Tagalog/English dictionary. Class Syllabus Provided. May be taken in combination with Tagalog 1. (Additional cost will apply)

“Immersion Events”- Additional events will be scheduled to reinforce class material during the course of the class schedule. Scheduling at the discretion of class instructor(s) and participants.

Last Class:  Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Basic Tagalog Class :    Tuesdays  (6:15pm- 7:15pm)
Intermediate Tagalog Class :   Tuesdays  (7:30pm – 8:30pm)

A little Homework.....Tagalog Class Pre-Assessment
At this point you are considering or have signed up for the class.  Congratulations if the latter!  Please click the "Tagalog Class Pre-Assessment" above. Read, complete and bring it to your first class.  The completed assessments will enable your instructor to best present the material and drive the interaction most appropriate for the students individual and collective abilities. We have found that this upfront knowledge for the instructor makes for a much more interactive, enjoyable and fulfilling learning experience.

Enrollment Policies:
1).        Students are enrolled on a “first registration paid, first enrolled” basis. In the event a class is filled, a waiting list will be created and “waiting list-ed” students will be invited to take an open seat based on their position on the waiting list. Full tuition is due on the first day of class.

 2).        Great efforts are made to describe the pre-requisite language skills for each class. If a student is unsure of his/her skills, he/she may attend the FIRST class of each course without charge to assess their compatibility with the course they are enrolled in. Switches may be made with permission of the instructor and in the FIRST TWO (2) class sessions only!

 If you have any further questions, please consult with the instructor regarding the appropriate class in which to enroll ASAP.

 3).        If students would like to sit in BOTH sessions, the tuition fee for the second class should be paid no later than the THIRD (3rd) class session. The fee for any other class materials will be $15.00 (payable by the THIRD (3rd) class session.

 4).        Class materials will be provided to the students at the FIRST session and any other supplemental materials will be provided as they become available from the class instructor and/or coordinator.
